Book recommendation!

For the past few months I’ve been reading a new book, The Psychology of Collective Climate Action, which available for purchase or free download.

The book is primarily aimed at individuals and climate action groups with a view to them becoming motivated to take collection action in a resilient and effective manner.

It’s written by a group of activists and psychologists and covers a broad range of topics including understanding moral beliefs and actions and how they contribute to collective action, framing climate action to drive participation, the efficacy of different actions and the psychological effects for individuals taking action.

While local governments sit on the side of this form of community-based climate action, there’s a lot to learn from the book about how we might encourage collective community action.

It’s a big read (245 pages), but worth taking the time and thinking about your role in driving collective climate action.

Australia could cut its emissions by 85% by 2035, according to new analysis from Climateworks.

The modelling for the proposed cut comes ahead of the federal Government announcing a new target in September.

With problems facing large-scale renewables projects, some of the heavy lifting can be done by small-scale renewables on household rooftops, but it will need to be better managed.

A new report from the Victorian Council of Social Services finds that climate change is fuelling a feedback loop for poorer communities.

The capacity of vulnerable people to adapt to extreme weather is eroded with each event, as climate change mirrors the drivers that cause inequality
